Research Institute scientists aim to develop new varieties of vegetables, melons and potatoes, seed production, development of cultivation technology and methods of producing environmentally safe products, diseases and pests protection, and introduction of scientific achievements into production.
There are several laboratories in the institute - breeding of vegetables and melons, seed production of vegetable and melon crops, breeding and seed production of potatoes, cultivation technology of vegetable, melons and potatoes, protected soil (greenhouse), plant protection, agro chemistry and quality.
Research work also carries out in several regions of the country - Andijan , Kashkadarya , Samarkand , Syrdarya, Surkhandarya and Khorezm scientific research stations.

More than 170 varieties and hybrids of vegetables, melons and potatoes created in the institute. Including tomato varieties for open field and greenhouse, sweet pepper, cucumber, cabbage, onions , eggplant , radish , beetroot , garlic , turnips, daikon , radishes , squash , lettuce , parsley, coriander, celery, fennel, spinach, zucchini, watermelon, melons, pumpkins and potatoes.
