Economic reforms in agriculture, development of private ownership and the creation of legal, organizational and financial conditions for the development of farming have become key factors in achieving high results in the industry.
Over the past 10 years:
Increased crop area of vegetables up to 44 hectares, potato 29.2 hectares, melons 9.5 hectares, expanded fruiting area gardens up to 57 hectares and vineyards to 9.5 hectares;
Increased productivity from the hectare of irrigated vegetable growing by 76 centners, in Melon 58 centners, in potato by40.4 centners in horticulture 56.7 centners as well as in viticulture up to 72.2 centners;
As a result, increased production of vegetables by 2.6 times, potatoes - by 2.7 times, melons - by 2.7 times, the fruit - 3 times and grapes – for 3.3 times. In 2013, in the country produced 8.5 million tons of vegetables, more than 2.2 million tons of potatoes, 1.6 million tons of melons, fruits 2.3 million tons and 1.3 million tons of grapes.
Along with the optimization of sown areas in the country, organized work on the accelerated introduction of advanced technologies and innovation in the development of cultivation horticulture and viticulture, the creation of new orchards and vineyards, including on the basis of modern intensive technologies.
During the period from 2008 to 2014 again created 44.0 thousand hectares of gardens and 30.0 ha of vineyards. In addition, remodeled 76.4 ha of orchards and 37.8 ha of vineyards. In other words, about 40% gardens and 30% of the vineyards have been updated.
In order to increase production of high-quality fruits and using the best international practices, more than 13 hectares of high-dwarf and semi-dwarf intensive orchards using modern irrigation technologies and machinery in the cultivation of fruit and vegetable and viticulture have been established in the country.
One of the promising directions of development of the industry is the production of vegetables indoors (greenhouses).
Over the last 5 years, in the field created 11,500 greenhouses with a total area of 1.4 hectares, including more than 600 modern greenhouses in the area of 585 hectares, which are built using advanced technology of European countries, Korea, Turkey, China, Israel, and also 10,900 greenhouses of lightweight design in the area of 1.5 hectares.
